Earl Zimmerman is Assistant Professor of Bible and Religion at Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. He is also a core teacher in the Justice, Peace, and Conflict Studies Program at EMU. He began teaching at EMU in 1998.

Zimmerman is an ordained pastor in the Central District Conference of Mennonite Church USA. He is a member of the pastoral team at Shalom Mennonite Congregation in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

He and his family spent eight years in the Philippines with Eastern Mennonite Missions and Mennonite Central Committee. There he was involved in theological education, various peace and development initiatives, pastoral work, ecumenical and interreligious conversations, and a regional Asia facilitator. He is co-editor of Telling Our Stories: Personal Accounts of Engagement with Scripture (Cascadia, 2006).

Zimmerman was born and grew up in Myerstown, Pennsylvania. He is married to Ruth Hoover Zimmerman. They are the parents of Krista, Stephen, and Sara.
