TELLING OUR STORIES
Personal Accounts of Engagement with Scripture

This book was made possible by the contributions of many people. We are especially grateful to the various people who wrote their stories for this volume. We deeply appreciate their willingness to make themselves vulnerable as they tell us about their personal journeys with Scripture.

We thank the committee that helped us plan the event “Our Journey With Scripture: A Colloquy,” held at the Laurelville Mennonite Church Center on June 7-9, 2002. This includes Jane Hoober Peifer, pastor of Blossom Hill Mennonite Church; Keith Graber Miller, professor of religion at Goshen College; Malinda Berry, graduate student at Union Theological Seminary in New York; and J. Denny Weaver, professor of religion and history at Bluffton University. Their enthusiasm and work helped make the Journeys With Scripture project a success. They gave us the initial encouragement to edit this volume as well as helpful advice along the way.

We thank Michael A. King, of Cascadia Publishing House, for his vision for the possibilities of a book like this as well as the able way he coached us through the publishing process.

Finally, we thank Lilly Endowment for the grant which contributed toward the expenses of this project.
