The Pax Story

Pax men cherish the Anabaptist faith tradition that nurtured them to believe that it is better to give than to receive, and that the greatest of all commandments is to love one another. So we thank God for our spiritual forebears.

Further we especially acknowledge the gift of the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), which is also a product of the Anabaptist heritage. No Paxer will ever be able to fully describe what MCC has meant and what it has done. So we thank MCC for what it has done for us, including presenting an expanded world and its opportunities to us in ways we would never have dreamed.

We give profound thanks to our congregations, parents, and families who supported us while we went overseas to serve “in the name of Christ.”

Finally, as author I thank the members of the planning committee for Pax 50, the September 2001 fifty-year Pax celebration/reunion, which strongly supported the idea of producing the story of Pax. They are Bruce Aurenheimer, Robert Ediger, Owen Hess, John Hiebert, James Juhnke, Arlo Kasper, Al Keim, Bill Klassen, Orville Schmidt, Robert Schrag, Walter Schmucker, George Steckly, Mark Wadel, and Dwight Wiebe (who did not live to enjoy the fifty-year celebration/reunion on September 14-16, 2001).
